Stickie
Quickie Buns
| 1½ cups flour
2 packages yeast (4½ teaspoons) ¾ cup milk ½ cup water ¼ cup butter ¼ cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg 1¾ cup flour 1½ cup raw apple, chopped (optional) Topping:
In a large mixing bowl combine the 1½ cup flour and yeast. Heat milk, water, butter, sugar and salt until warm (not hot! If you overheat it, let it cool before proceeding). Pour into yeast mixture. Add egg, beat on high speed of mixer for 3 minutes. By hand, stir in 1¾ cup flour. Add the raw apple, if using. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. While the dough is rising, combine the topping ingredients in a saucepan and heat until butter melts. Pour into a 9x13-inch glass baking pan. Stir down batter and drop by tablespoonfuls on topping. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes. Cool for 1 minutes; cover with cookie sheet and carefully invert to remove from pan. Yields 24 buns. Note: This recipe may be prepared the night
before if covered and refrigerated. Next morning, remove from refrigerator
before preheating the oven. Bake as directed.
