Prune Cake
 
 
2½ cups sifted cake flour 
¾ teaspoon baking powder 
1 teaspoon soda 
1 teaspoon each cloves, allspice and cinnamon 
½ cup shortening 
1½ cups sugar 
2 eggs, well beaten 
1 cup cooked prunes, coarsely chopped
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk 

Sift all dry ingredients except sugar three times. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and prunes. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating, between
each addition. Bake in layer pans at 350° F. for 25 minutes or until done. Frost with fudge icing.
