Beef Pot Roast
 
3 to 4 pound pot roast 
2 tablespoons flour 
2 teaspoons salt 
¼ teaspoon pepper 
3 tablespoons shortening 
¼ c. water

Add salt and pepper to flour, and dredge pot-roast with seasoned flour. Brown in shortening. Add water, cover and simmer in a slow oven (300° F.) or on top of stove for 3 hours or until tender. Thicken cooking liquid for gravy.
