Pork Steaks and Apple Rings
 
 
4 pork shoulder steaks, cut ¾ inch thick
Flour
3 tablespoons shortening
Salt and pepper
¼ c. water
3 large apples
½ c. grape jelly
½ c. water

Dredge pork steaks in flour. Brown in shortening over medium heat. Pour off drippings. Season. Add ¼ cup water. Cover tightly. Cook slowly until tender, about 45 minutes. Core and slice apples. In a separate pan, dissolve grape jelly in ½ c. water, and add apples. Cook until tender. Serve with pork steaks.
