| 1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon anise 1 teaspoon salt 2 envelopes dry yeast 4 eggs, beaten ¾ cup butter 1 cup water ¾ cup candied fruit ¼ cup pine nuts ¾ cup raisins Dissolve yeast in one cup warm water. Melt butter and place in bowl with beaten eggs. Add dry ingredients slowly. After all ingredients have been mixed, cover and place in warm place to rise until double in bulk, then punch down and add raisins, candied fruit and pine nuts. Divide dough in half and mold into shape
and let rise in baking tins until double in size and bake at 325° F.
for 35 to 40 minutes. Before baking brush on topping of one teaspoon water
and beaten egg yolk.
