Fashioned Wassail
| 1 quart ale (not beer, unless that is
all you can get)
½ teaspoon nutmeg 2 slices fresh ginger, about the size of quarters grated peel of 1 lemon 3 eggs ½ cup powdered sugar 1 quart rum or brandy Heat ale to almost boiling with spices.
Beat eggs with sugar while ale is heating up. Combine both into a large
pitcher. Add rum or brandy and stir until mixed well. Then pour into a
punch bowl. Serve hot.
