Chocolate Cake
| 1 c. water
12 T (heaping) cocoa 2/3 c. butter 1 3/4 c. sugar 2 eggs |
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. soda 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla |
| Place cocoa and water in small sauce pan
and boil for 3 minutes. Cool. Set aside.
Beat butter, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Add soda to buttermilk. Alternately add flour and salt and buttermilk mixture to egg mixture. Mix well. Add cocoa mixture and vanilla to batter and mix well. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans, and pour batter into them. Bake for about 35 minutes at 350o. Ice with your favorite chocolate icing. |
