1 cup white sugar
1 cup butter (2 sticks) 
1 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. white corn syrup
nuts (optional)
12 ounce package chocolate chips

Place sugar and butter in a sauce pan and melt. Bring to a boil and stir constantly until all is liquid. Add water and corn syrup. Cook to crack stage. Stir in nuts and spread immediately on greased cookie sheet. Spread as thin as possible. 

In a double boiler, melt package of chocolate chips and immediately spread on top of candy on cookie sheet.
