Keep-Well Drop Cookies
 
 
2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup shortening
½ cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup, light or dark
1 egg, well beaten
1½ teaspoons vanilla

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening, Add sugar and corn syrup slowly and cream until fluffy. Stir in well-beaten egg and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients, a little at a time, blending, well after each addition. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a cookie sheet which has been lightly greased. Bake in moderate oven (425° F.) for 12 minutes. Store in covered container for chewy cookies; in uncovered container for crisp cookies.
