Glazed
Oatmeal Brownies
| 1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. brown sugar 1 egg 1 c. sifted flour 1/4 tsp. soda 1 1/4 c. oatmeal |
1/2 tsp. salt
16 oz. chocolate chips 1/2 c. white sugar 3 T orange juice 1 tsp. grated orange peel 1/2 c. milk |
| Cream together the shortening, brown sugar
and egg thoroughly. Add milk to creamed mixture. Sift together the flour,
soda and salt. Add to shortening mixture. Stir in oatmeal and chocolate.
Spread dough in greased 9-inch pan. Bake for 30 minutes at 375o.
Meanwhile, put white sugar, orange juice in saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add orange peel. Pour hot syrup over hot brownies. When cool, cut into bars. |
