Food Cake
| 2 cups sifted cake flour
1/3 cup cocoa 1 teaspoon soda ½ cup shortening 1¼ cups brown sugar (firmly packed) 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla Sift flour, cocoa and soda together three
times, Cream shortening and brown sugar, then add unbeaten eggs, one at
a time . Beat well after each addition. Add flour alternately with milk,
then vanilla. Bake in two deep layer pans in moderate oven (350°
F.) 25 minutes. Frost as desired.
