Date Apricot Loaf
 
 
1 cup fresh dates
1/2 cup dried apricots
3 cups flour
1 ½ tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. soda
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
¾ cup chopped walnuts
1 egg
1 ½ cup milk
Pit and slice dates.  Rinse apricots and cover with boiling water.  Let stand 15 min.  Drain and slice.  Sift flour with salt, baking powder and soda.  Stir in sugar, dates, apricots and walnuts.  Beat egg lightly and combine with milk.  Stir into dry mixture.  Pour batter into greased loaf pan in. Let stand 15 minutes at 350o about 1 hour 15 minutes. Turn out on wire rack to cool.
