Custard Pie
 
 
½ cup sugar
1 tablespoon flour
4 eggs 
1 cup whole milk 
1 tablespoon butter 
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 unbaked pastry shell

Mix sugar and flour. Beat eggs. Combine with sugar and flour. Scald milk and add butter, vanilla and nutmeg. Add to egg mixture and mix well. Before pouring custard in pastry shell, bake empty shell at 450° F., for 5 minutes, then remove pastry from oven and reduce heat to 325°. Pour warm egg mixture into hot pie shell and return to oven. Bake until an inserted knife comes out clean.
