Chicken
Casserole 2
| 3 tablespoons butter (or chicken fat skimmed
from broth)
4 tablespoons flour ¾ cups chicken broth ½ milk ½ cup grated cheddar cheese ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon pepper 1½ cups diced cooked chicken ½ buttered bread crumbs Melt fat, add flour and blend. Add chicken broth and milk all at once. Cook, stirring constantly until thick. Add cheese and heat until cheese is melted. Add seasonings and chicken. Pour into quart casserole dish. Top with buttered bread crumbs. Bake at 350° F. for 30 minutes. (for buttered bread crumbs, melt 1 tablespoon butter and mix in ½ cup dry bread crumbs) |
