Banana Walnut Cake
 
 
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cups sifted cake flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon soda
¾ teaspoon baking powder
2/3 cup finely chopped walnuts
¾ cup mashed banana pulp
3 tablespoons sour milk (use a dash of vinegar to sour the milk)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add chopped walnuts. Combine the mashed banana and the sour milk. Add alternately with dry ingredients to sugar mixture. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan and bike in moderate oven (350° F.), for 45 minutes. Frost as desired.
