Banapple Bread
 
1 t baking soda 
1 t salt 
2½ c sugar 
1 c chopped nuts, walnut or pecans 
3½ c plain cake flour 
4 eggs, beaten 
¾ c vegetable oil 
2 t vanilla 
3 very ripe bananas, mashed well, add enough applesauce to make 2 cups total 

In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour with baking soda and salt. Mix in remaining ingredients. Grease two loaf pans with shortening. Flour pans and shake out excess. Fill pans with equal amounts of batter. Bake in a 350° F. oven for about 1 hour, or until done. Turn out on racks to cool. Brush loafs with butter while still warm.
