Apple
Pie
| 8 large tart apples, sliced thin
1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon butter Pastry for two-crust pie Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry. Mix
sugar, spices, salt and lemon juice. Sprinkle over sliced apples and mix.
Pour apples into pie shell and dot with butter. Cover with top crust which
has slits to let steam escape. Dot top crust with butter and sprinkle with
cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 450° F., for 10 minutes then reduce heat
to 350° and bake 30 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is
brown.
