Applesauce
Refrigerator Cookies
| ¾ cup shortening
1 cup sugar 1 egg 2½ cups sifted flour ½ teaspoon soda ¼ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon cinnamon ¼ teaspoon cloves ½ cup nuts ½ cup applesauce Cream sugar and shortening. Stir in the
egg. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Mix in nuts.
Add to creamed mixture in three portions alternately with the applesauce.
Form dough in rolls. Wrap in waxed paper and chill in refrigerator. When
ready to bake, slice thin. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 375° F.,
for 10 to 15 minutes.
