Apple-Cheese
Salad
| 3 large apples
¾ cup water ½ cup crushed stick candy (cinnamon or fruit flavored work best) ¼ cup nuts 1½ cups cottage cheese Salad dressing Wash and core apples, then cut in half-inch
slices without peeling. Make a syrup of the water and candy, adding a stick
of cinnamon if desired and a drop or two of red or green coloring. Cook
the apples in the syrup, cooking gently to avoid breaking. Chill. Arrange
on lettuce and fill centers with cottage cheese. Serve with salad dressing.
